When Herrie stopped singing in Death Metal band Iniuria he decided to take up the original LD50 approach on music: Old Skool Grindcore! He needed some recruits to accomplish his ambition so he asked Carnal Leftovers drummer Micha and ex-Carnal Leftovers bassist and Departure guitarist Mathieu to join him on his quest for Old Skool Grindcore. They both agreed to help Herrie and in February 2008 the first rehearsal took place. In November 2008 the first release, a mcd called “Songs of suicide, words of death!” was released by the also newly started Herrie Records Inc. On this record Grindbashers defined their sound: Old Skool Grindcore, with song structures based on Napalm Death, Terrorrizer, Agathocles and a little bit of My Dying Bride (witch was the band all 3 members of Grindbashers liked a lot). But they added a new, heavy and clear sound to the songs, so they were quite unique in their approach. It must be said this couldn’t be done without the help of Fredde, owner of Fredde’s Dirty Bird Studio’s and guitarist of the infamous Massive Assault. The cd got fairly good reviews throughout Europe. The release of “Songs of Suicide, Words of Death” was the starting point of Grindbashers live performances. With their short and brutal songs, they were an immediate success live. Crowds in the Netherlands and Belgium enjoyed the gigs, and so Grindbashers knew they were on to something. In November 2008 Grindbashers returned to Fredde’s Dirty Bird Studio to record “Mine Own Redeemer”, witch was released in February 2009 as a split-cd with GrindcoreGods Agathocles, who recorded their part, “Arbeid Macht Krank” on tour in a Peruvian studio. Again the reviews were unanimous positive, and a lot of gigs were played in the Netherlands. In April of 2009, Micha quitted Grindbashers. In just 2 weeks, the new drummer Maarten (Departure, A.I.) was forced to learn and play the set list, because Grindbashers had to play even more gigs. He luckily pulled it of! In September 2009 Grindbashers went jet again to Fredde’s Dirty Bird studio to record “End Of The Bloodline”, witch was released by Herrie Records Inc. in December 2009 as a split-cd with their comrades of Obtuse, whom recorded “like Vermin, Like Human” in Fredde’s Dirty Bird Studio. Once again Fredde managed to get the sound of Grindbashers perfectly on cd. As a result of continuous performing live and the release of great sounding Grindcore cd’s, Grindbashers managed to draw the attention well over the Dutch borders. On new years eve 2009 / 2010 they were hitting the stage in Berlin and in March 2010 they toured Germany and Poland. More gigs in Germany, Belgium and Czech Republic are confirmed. In 2010 Grindbashers is planning to release a split-cd (or maybe vinyl) witch will be filled with already recorded material, and in September 2010 Grindbashers will once again hit the Dirty Bird Studio to record a full length album.
